B. NEGATIVE POINTS-THINGS TO BE IMPROVED
- Too many teaching hours: A real full 8-hour teaching programme daily, despite the effort to interpose at least 2-4 hours daily of practical exercise topics, was negatively perceived. According to students, it resulted into their exhaustion; at times they could hardly concentrate. Although students wished to participate more actively, as all teaching topics were described by them being of paramount importance, the daily workload was too much for them. Indeed, based on their answers in the questionnaires, most students' motivation to participate in the PCIP course was pure academic. Too many teaching hours resulted according to students in their suboptimal academic performance.
- Limited free time: As the course took place in October, in contrast to common practice of Greek Institutions to organize IP courses during summer (summer schools), the short days resulted into limited available daytime for students wishing to see and visit Crete. Combined with too many teaching hours resulted into very limited free time also for literature overview and further reading during evening.
- Unequal status of home Institution students. Both incoming and home students would like home students to have equal rights for free accommodation and subsistence cost coverage.
- Reduced contact with home students. Both incoming and home students would appreciate having the chance of more interaction. This was restricted as home students had to travel everyday to the hotel, combined with the limited available time due to increased workload.
